MailTab Pro for Gmail - Email Client App Reviews

134 Customer Reviews:

Thanks to this app, I have one less tab open in my browser, and I can get notifications of new e-mail right on my desktop. Just a tip: Make sure to click on the little "-" symbol (bottom right) to go into compact view, since this is where the app really shows what its made of. "Desktop view" simply opens a window with the Gmail website in it, whereas compact view is a nice and simple iOS inspired interface.

Operates seemlessly in the background, much easier to navigate than using native Mail application and can pretty well customize to personal preferences. Highly recomended.

Not much superior to the freeware version. Also, its handling of mutliple email address is sluggish and primitive. The app itself tends, on occasion, to freeze up for longish periods and to, occasionally, crash. Not really recommened until they fix these glaring issues.

good enough

Simple and good app, however eats too much memory for such small app.

Was looking for something simple for my Gmail account. This app is perfect for it, and it supports Retina which is a huge plus! I hope more people review this app; its well designed, and well-deserved 5 star.

Decent App

The only flaw is it needs to be able to access multiple GMail accounts.

Just bouth MailTab for Gmail pro, and found a bug... I can log in in multiple accounts, but when trying to switch from one to another, it opens a pages in Chrome which only contains "Copyright 2002-2012 Google Inc.". Also, when going back in Mailtab, there is only the window with its icons, I have to click on the home icon to go back to Gmail web interface.

Perfect for me

Great that my gmail can "snap" open instead of waiting for Apple mail to import. Its also nice to have all the gmail tools available.

MailTab is both less and more than I expected. Less, because on the surface it appears to be not much more than a link to your Gmail page as seen in any browser. More, in that it is lightning fast, provides excellent notification of new mail, and resides quietly on your menu bar until needed, at which time it changes colour to red and provides an unread message number. Composition is good, reading is great, altogether a very good add on for Gmail fans. While it reportedly supports multiple accounts, I would give it five stars if it allowed for a combined Inbox for all. Having to log out or log in to change accounts is just annoying. FipLab build good Apps.

Does what it says but unfortunately causes some problems. The area where the mail window appears when it is clicked sometimes blocks clicking on other windows in that area which can be frustrating. When mission control is open the MailTab title sometimes appears without a screenshot of the window and other times does not appear at all.

This is a pretty good app but had to take it off and put google notifier back on my computer. The app kept kicking me out and show the login in window. Must be a bug in the app perhaps?

If you are like me you never used the web page for GMAIL anyway, its to rediculiously busy and hard to navigate. I was using Mac Mail for all my accounts. However if you want to have them truly separate (work and personal) so as to NOT select the wrong email address or server to send from - this is a great way to do that. I still use the Mac Mail client to manage the folders and file - its so simple (Googles Stuff is so cluttered). But I can put up with the GMAIL look long enought to send emails and check them. Which is what I am using this $1.99 App to do. Works. And. I have a different notification for the GMAIL set IN the app to know if an incomming email is work or play. Somethign that you cannot do in Mac Mail (Hey yo…!! Apple you listening?) :)

It is a nice and easy means of accessing my Gmail account. While the mobile view is minimalist in design, it also offers the bare essentials for reading and sending mail. I actually quite like it. The full desktop view is available as an option as well. This is where I feel more at home given it is the same UI as Gmail. The app can be slow at times, but no where near the inconveniences that your native MAIL app has to offer. One liner: simple, easy to use, minimalist interface with all the functionality of Gmail.

Good E-Mail Client

This app keeps my personal and business e-mails separate, and I can check my emails seamlessly from the window I am working in.

good - except for one little thing…..

cant add attachments in an intuitive way. Other then that it removes the headache from checkin my email.

Doner_Morferelli v6.1 · 12 years ago

Very nice app. Its great that it looks and feels like Chromes version of Gmail, and my phones version of Gmail. What would make this app great would be the ability to attach files in the mobile view.

Nice, simple email notification with integrated pop-up access to gmail account (mobile or desktop version). Definitely worth the money for the ease of access to gmail account.

Very well done

The only thing I would change would be the little bump on the icon. It looks a bit strange. Other than that the app is very simple and well made.

Koodoes v6.1 · 12 years ago

I’m finding the App useful, but it is not very intuitive and there was a steep learning curve. Adding attachments are awkward. There are several mail aps that work better.

I was looking for a replacement for gmail notifier, and this does what I want and more. It is my Mac interface for gmail. Fast and easy. Better than using Chrome or Safari for most of what I want to do.
