MailTab Pro for Gmail - Email Client App Reviews
I really like this app, and I’ve recommended it to a few friends. It’s absolutely perfect for Mac users, a “must-have”. There is one minor improvement that I would like to suggest, however. The program sends alerts for every email, including the “social” emails and “promotions” emails. The app would work much better if I could change my notifications in the preferences to not play a sound when I get those emails. I would prefer to hear sounds when I get emails to my primary inbox only. I find it very distracting to hear the notification for EVERY email, including the junk emails that I really don’t care about. Please allow me to change my notifications so that I don’t hear anything when I get emailed a “social” or “promotion” email! Thanks!
The best of all alternatives
I’ve tried a few others, this is the best of the paid apps.
MailTab Pro
Works just fine. Picks up the different email addresses that Gmail picked up. Acts pretty much like Gmail.
Using MailTab Pro for Gmail is all I need. I have two Gmail accounts which is handled perfectly (the unread count only shows for the default account, which isn’t too much of an issue for me). It is always there, doesn’t get closed wen you shut down the browser.
Perfect
Makes it super easy to get to your email. love it.
I find that I am better able to focus on my work when I don’t have a bunch of tabs open on my browser but I still need to be connected to my email. This app has done it for me. My only wish is that it makes a noise when I receive a Hangout message/invitation as well.
Works as promised. Excellent way to keep track of email without having to have a web browser open all the time. Notifications when new messages arrive, easy keyboard shortcuts and switching between accounts. This was just what I was looking for in an email app.
Select all option
Very good job guys. Can you create a select all option in the mobile view version. Thanks.
Our office just started using Gmail (after being on Outlook for some time). I am OK with Gmail via the browser, but I have found Gmail to be a much more enjoyable experience with the MailTab Pro for Gmail app. Fast, fun, easy to look at, the option to expand to desktop view is fantastic. After the first day I convinced two co-workers to give it a try. I think they like, too. If there were a way to change the background of the drop down menu (other than just opacity) it would be fantastic. Great job!
I recently wrote a review praising the recent release for fixing the bug where the app pops up between two screens continually when using a dual monitor setup with a macbook pro. Turns out that wasn’t fixed yet. It’s still moving itself to between the two screens constantly! I removed my previous review to replace it with this one.
I like the app, it’s convenient. Some problems that I would like to see fixed: 1. Multiple monitor support is lacking. The app window stays fixed on one monitor even if you clicked the icon on the other monitor. 2. It’s current version of Chrome is outdated. Gmail shows a pop-up message that “your version of Chrome is not supported”. Big issue for an app that was specifically built to open Gmail. Outside of those issues, it’s a nice way to keep tabs on your Gmail account.
Current version must have a memory leak. Found it using 5.8gb of physical memory this morning. Way too high for checking a single gmail mailbox. No thanks.
Memory leaks
It has advertising in this version, for Disk Doctor and it shows you all the time. It’s crappy app, don’t waste your money.
Good app
My normal mail on my mac doesnt allow me to use it so this is a nice quick alternate way to check emails quick
But I still have sometimes been experiencing that the first login to Gmail on MailTab fails. When it fails, I have to retype my password. I place this software in "Log in items" of my iMac (OS 10.6.8). I think it is a bug due to this software and some other login items.
Does what it says.
No complaints.
easy to use, saves a lot of time
Great ! Well worth the cost when you consider the time savings you get having this app
This app has much improved over the past year or so. I previously had a number of issues, but these have mostly been fixed, with the exception of the following one: I do a lot of typing in Japanese, and due to the method used in typing Japanese, we often have to use the escape key. This forces the window to disappear. The only other issue is that the spell check is not automatic. Ive forgotten to do it on more than one occasion, and cursed myself afterwards when I see spelling errors in my mails. Ive tried to find a setting to make the spellcheck automatic, but if one exists, its not in an intuitive location.
I like the software overall. But I am not using this now for one reason; When I download attachement and its file name includes double byte characters, double byte characters turn to ??? characters.
I went looking for a replacement for the mail component of the soon-to-be-cancelled Google Notifiers, and this application was exactly what I wanted. The price for the Pro version is very reasonable, and it’s been working perfectly.
