MailTab Pro for Gmail - Email Client App Reviews

It’s Great! Does it all BUT...

MailTab Pro is a great app I’ve used through several versions. It sure beats using the browser to get my G-mail! The only minor gripe I have is it tends to be a little bit of a memory hog. If that could be optimized it would be a solid 5 star app! I do highly recommend it even with that minor issue.

Liked it…until google locked my account.

This app need the ability to set a amount of time between checking for gmail. I guess it checks constantly and so, I was locked out of my gmail account (like others) for about 4 hours. Had to delete the app. Hope an update comes with a choice to check every 5 or 10 or 15 minutes.

Faster alternative to opening a browser window

I’ve been using this product for several years. It’s ideal when in an airport on borrowed wifi - a very light client that beats the extended time my Apple Mail client takes to download and edit / respond to email. Using gmail’s tabs I can quickly delete a lot of email that I don’t need to actually download, saving me time and bandwidth. Several people have complained about the product causing a “disabled email” message - it’s not actualy this product that does that (although this product is impacted when that happens), the situation they are describing happens when more than one mail client for an individual mail account (such as Apple Mail) is left open on multiple computers. It’s a solid product and one I used frequently. Wouldn’t trade it.

Great App!!!

I like having this much better than using an open browser all the time or the mail app. Great for alerts and new emails. A must for gmail account holders.

Works great until it doesn’t...

This app works very well…almost too well. I am now routinely locked out of my gmail for periods of 24-48 hours at a time ever since I purchased this. When my Gmail is accessible, the app is very convenient, but I’m at the point now where it is not worth being locked completely out my account. As of now it’s just a complete waste of money. Please update app to resolve this!!!

Buggy App

This app opens in different places on the screen with only part of the inbox visible. Worthless!! This app makes my Apple mail app look great.

Great app, I do not understand some of the negative remarks!

I have used the app for a few months now and cannot fault it. I use the app on an older MacBook Pro (2007-2008) and it works without a hitch exactly as described.

Its a good app, but one bug keeps it from greatness

I really like the app, and I use it every day, but about half the time, it opens the app window half way off the screen. Then I have to right click on the menubar, and select reset app window. I’ve sent the developers a couple of requests to fix this (or to lock the window position) and while they say they will fix it one day, they don’t. Still, its a very good app, just frequently annoying.

Great program… quick access to gmail

I have been using this program non-stop since i got it… i love that i can have quick access to my gmail without opening my web browser. There are two view modes one mobile-like and the full mode (the one use) that has all the features of normal gmail i recommend this to anyone who uses gmail a lot… great program

Great Application!

This app beats Apple Mail by a mile! Best investment I’ve ever made. I have a business G-mail account and a personal G-mail account and can access either effortlessly. It was a wonderful Christmas find and I recommend it to anyone who uses G-Mail.

Good, but no longer using.

This app is using 700MB of memory and since my old laptop only has 4GB of RAM, I’m switching back to Apple Mail. Everything else about the app is worth 4 stars.

one bug is killing this app for me

I would love to use this app, but when I open it, the window is half way off the screen and I have to reset the App window over and over and over. Fix this problem and I’ll gladly give 5 stars and recommend this app. Until then, this is pretty bad. Their Mailtab for Outlook does the same thing. So frustrating.

extremely helpful but just want one tweek for 5 stars

I love this, particularly because I don’t care for the interface with Mail on the MacBook. However, it would be great if there were a way to have this app only “light up red” and display the number of emails ONLY when it concerns the primary inbox and not others (i.e. “Social” , “Promotions”, etc.) That is my only criticism of any kind. This is great for quick functionality and its quick and very practical!

Good IF you have tons of MEMORY

The app is good to use and I use it extensively. The only big problem is it is really a memory sucker. It easily takes 500 MB just sitting in the background. Please fix this. It does not make sense for a gmail client to consume that much memory.

So quick and easy!

I’ve struggled to find an app to keep my Gmail organized, but out of the way. This app is easy to use, is unobtrusive, and has really helped me get my email under control. My only complaint is that I didn’t discover this app sooner!

Google needs to get in part with apple for at least gmail...

It feels like I’m using an aftermarket product.. It works,,, but theres details about it that are awkward, where I would rather use my phone in which gmail is actually google developed and works almost seemlessly on my iPhone

Wrong sum of mails

It calculates and displays mails from all tabs including Promotions and socials. It makes this number useful. I need only number of primary folder

CANT STOP CONSTANT NOTIFICATION FROM SIGNAZON.COM

HELP. I just bought this app and now I cannot stop a banner/sound notification about a three day super sale that comes up non stop since I bought this app. NOT HAPPY.

Good, but has potential to be better

I consistently have to keep an eye on email coming in from about 3 or 4 different GMail accounts. Simply put, MailTab is the simplest way to manage this without having to deal without the idiosyncrasies of a traditional desktop mail client. There are some opportunities missed here though. For instance, the unread message counter and the incoming notifications only address the currently selected account. If this could be improved so that notifications and the counter were updated by all logged-in accounts, you’d have a way of staying up to date without having to manually check each. If the notifications themselves could trigger an account switch in the Mailtab pane, you now have something that resembles closely the mobile experience, and blows away the competition.

This is awesome nice gadget, but its POWER HUNGRY

Looking at my activity monitor/energy section i am noticing that its TWICE as power consuming then any other appю not great at all
